Nothing like a carving of the three leaders of the Confederate States on a giant mass of granite in the middle of the hills of Georgia. Stone Mountain is fun, and more fun that it used to be since they have added an old time village tourist attraction including a real blacksmith. The train ride around the mountain is worse than it used to be though, because they have a new train and you have to stop and watch the worst 'play' in the history of the world. I work in theater, I know. In the summer nights you can catch a laser light show on the mountain. If you plan to go for the 4th of July fireworks and laser show - go early because we arrived at about 4pm and the park was closed due to capacity.
