The People's Republic of Austin
My boyfriend's oldest brother, who lives in Austin, told us that there's a rumor that the representatives from the rest of Texas who come to the capitol for work refer to the city as The People's Republic of Austin, and if you've ever visited Austin and any other city in Texas, you'll understand why.
