Castle
This castle has been a strange and favorite feature of both Lexington
and Versailles, Kentucky. Located on US 60 between the two towns, it has
remained vacant ever since Rex Martin Sr. started construction on it in
the early 1970s and it had been for sale since 1975 when Mr. Martin and
his wife divorced. Then in 2003, Thomas Post of Miami, FL bought it for
$1.8 million, but on May 10, 2004 one of the spires was struck by lighting
and the entire inner living structure burned to the ground. Mr. Post is
still trying to get all the paperwork in order to open the castle as a
'tourist home' for paying customers.
