Merrick Inn
If you have seen the film Ameile, you may be familiar with the concept of stealing someone's lawn gnome and sending the owner photos of their gnome in strange or famous places. This concept did inspire my endeavor with this book, but the idea actually came my best friend Eric Ryan Seale's idea of kidnapping of lawn jockeys. These concrete lawn ornaments are shaped like little horse jockeys and they have a loop of wire in their hand to which you are meant to tie your horse when you arrive at your destination. Not too many people make house calls on horses anymore, but people still have them on their lawns or by their front doors. I knew for a fact that I could find some at the Merrick Inn so that's where I went for the picture. I very highly recommend a visit to the restaurant for top quality southern cooking. The corn pudding is excellent!
